Every week, Recall Knowledge recaps the Know Direction content of the past week, a preview of the Know Direction content of the week to come, and the director of operations, Ryan Costello, thoughts on the state of the network.
You can rewrite lost text, you can redraw a lost image, but you can’t rerecord lost audio.
My editorial is very late, so a few important notes before getting to the KD content.
Last week I said I wasn’t feeling well so I got a COVID test. Results came back negative. I still feel pretty awful, with a sore throat and wicked cough. I feel like if I had to go out in public in my current state, I would set my phone to always display my negative test results so I could wave it around whenever I had a coughing fit.
I lost my voice on Wednesday, the low point of this cold. Coincidentally, the night that Loren and Vee replaced Perram and I to host Know Direction 245. I’ll go into more detail later, but they did such an amazing job. Wednesday may have been the low point of my cold, but their episode was the high point of my day.
And now, a recap of the Know Direction Network content you might have missed last week:
Recap of March 8th to March 12th
What happened last week on knowdirectionpodcast.com and twitch.tv/knowdirection?
Monday, March 8th
By Ryan Costello
I talked about being sick and needing a break. Not much has changed in the last week.
Tuesday, March 9th
Digital Divination now splits its time between Starfinder gaming topics and writing for Starfinder/Paizo topics, with this one walking the line perfectly.
Wednesday, March 10th
I turned in for the first ten minutes to make sure the show kicked off without a hitch. It kicked off with more than without a hitch, Loren and Vee hit the ground with enthusiasm, getting right to the introduction and explanation before moving on to the topic.
When I came across the XYZ book at the last in-person GenCon, I took a picture of ArchRavels, the game then on Kickstarter the booth promoted and sent it to a number of friends interested in fiber arts. They all expressed interest in the game. What a clever theme to choose for a tabletop game, with a built-in underrepresented audience and competition. Hearing the GDU cast talk about how the game came to be was a treat.
Groundbreaking – Caldera Magical Academy (Towers)
By Randal Meyer
Having laid out the purpose of the Caldera Magical Academy last time, this time Randal lays out the… uh… layout.
Thursday, March 11th
Having listened to the whole episode now, I really enjoy what Loren and Vee put together. The topic they chose was one I’d rather listen to than talk about, so that was nice for me, and I feel I learned a lot about both of their gaming history by diving into the context of the campaigns they’ve played and how they felt about them.
Something Creates – A Theme pt. 2
By Andrew Sturtevant
Andrew cites the sources of his inspiration for the theme he’s designing.
Friday, March 12th
It’s a puzzle episode!
Preview of March 15th to March 19th
This is back to Block 1 of our 2-block schedule.
Monday, March 15th
You’ve met the players, now meet the characters! I ended up leaving in a preamble in which Loren writes down everyone’s character’s name. It was entertaining, and I figured a couple of different ways in which we meet the characters just helps listeners remember them.
I actually managed to be brief!
Tuesday, March 16th

There’s an early buzz about this episode, so I’m looking forward to it.
