Monstrous Physique — Iron Man

You may have not heard, but there’s another entry to a popular set of movies that’s coming out today. This whole chain of events began just shy of ten years ago with a little movie called Iron Man. I remember reluctantly joining some friends to go see the movie and coming out of it so excited with the experience. It’s hard to believe how far everything has come since then, but to honor the movie that kicked it all off, I’ve decided to stat up the Iron Man himself.

SPECIAL ABILITIES
Iron Man Suit (Ex) Tony Stark wears a powerful armored suit that greatly enhances his physical abilities. This suit grants him darkvision out to 120 feet. Tony can remove or recall his suit by concentrating for 1 minute. He can call his suit to him so long as she is within 1,000 miles of the suit.
Repulsor (Ex) A repulsor has a range increment of 30 feet.
Suit AI (Ex) The Iron Man suit has a direct connection to an extremely advanced artificial intelligence which monitors battlefield conditions, enemy attacks, environmental conditions, and many other data points. The AI allows Iron Man to attempt a Culture, Life Science, Medicine, Mysticism, or Physical Science check with a +20 bonus. In addition, Iron Man can never be flanked.
Unibeam (Ex) The Iron Man suit can fire a more powerful repulsor blast at a range increment of 60 feet. Iron Man can only fire a unibeam once every 1d4 rounds.

Genius playboy and philanthropist Tony Stark was once a weapons manufacturer. After a terrible encounter with his weapons firsthand, Tony created a suit powered by an amazing power source which allowed him to fight against the captors which used his weapons to hold him ransom. Since then, Tony took on the mantle of Iron Man and used his impressive intellect and technology to work towards making the world a safer place. He uses the technology that powers his suit to take great strides in clean energy and dismantle the weapons he once relied on. When facing great dangers, Tony uses the abilities of his suit to fight against super-powered foes and keep the Earth safe.

Monstrous Origins

Iron Man feels like a very iconic character at this point, which is not something I think I could have said ten years ago. With that, I wanted to keep things as simple as possible, both to try to narrow down the core aspects of Iron Man’s abilities as well as to keep things easy to run. With that in mind, there were three things I knew I wanted to keep: the suit, the repulsors, and J.A.R.V.I.S. The suit is easy enough in that most of what it can do is built into stats like attacks and flight. The repulsors are the suits main weapon, but they get beefed up a little here in that they can hit creatures from further away. Finally, J.A.R.V.I.S. required deciding on how far I wanted to take these stats. Based on his various appearances, Iron Man has so many abilities and J.A.R.V.I.S. has so many supplemental abilities that I could have granted the stats so many little things it could. Instead, I figured the AI would give Tony a “guy in the chair” as well as the battlefield analysis that he needs to fight. If you like, feel free to add as many abilities as you want to replicate the exact Iron Man suit that’s your favorite.

That’s it for this week! If you end up introducing Iron Man into your game or you have any request for a future Monstrous Physique, please drop me a line at KnowDirection@hotmail.com.
