Investing In: Pathfinder Infinite

The past couple months have been a whirlwind of amazing from Paizo, especially for the Pathfinder line! And if you’re not celebrating the news from Gen Con still, figuring out how to tour Golarion with the Travel Guide, completing the Kineticist Playtest, playing through Blood Lords, reading through all the drops for Kingmaker 10th Anniversary, or you know generally playing your other existing Pathfinder 2E game then I hope you’re checking out the many and new releases from Pathfinder Infinite!

If you’re not familiar with Pathfinder Infinite, that’s okay. That’s why I’m writing this! After the announcement last year at Gen Con, Paizo partnered with DriveThruRPG (technically OneBookShelf) to start Pathfinder Infinite as well as Starfinder Infinite. Vanessa, Owen, Ryan, and Perram had an exciting talk of such almost immediately thereafter too! It’s for all the content creators to create custom rules, stories of iconics and new characters, and more! You’ll find Roll 20, Foundry, and more support through these releases too. In fact, Roll20 had their own feature of a month of Pathfinder with some featured Infinite Masters for example. Who are the Infinite Masters? Well Roll20’s article will tell you, but they are featured creators, designers, developers with top selling content.

As an example, Luis Loza has a number of pieces available. One features a familiar location to those of us who played Valiant, the town of Altameda. Want to run some Wild Wild West in Golarion? Check it out! I’d highly suggest the Dragonkin ancestry and the Wisdom-based Subconscious minds for the Psychic too! I’d really hoped for some Wisdom options for the Psychic on its release and Luis delivers with two very useful choices. It’s part of a Psychic bundle too that I hadn’t yet seen done on the site.

I have to mention Vellum & Lace from our own Vanessa Hoskins and all around amazing person, Helen Savore. Vellum & Lace is a fiction series of two sisters exploring life and all that comes along with it in Absalom. Suffice to say they’re high Charisma and well, developing some experience to build that Wisdom. How much is drawn from real life experience, I don’t know, but I’m not saying it’s not! Both have some other pieces on Infinite. Helen’s Origami Folder archetype and additions for the Thaumaturge are wonderful.

Cayden Cailean toasts to you!

Vanessa also contributed to Queerfinder Issue 1. I eagerly anticipate Issue 2 by the way. That’s happening, right? I hope. It’s 80 pages of deliciously queer content for bar hopping around Absalom. There’s a number of contributors and even an appearance (well a few) of Michelle Nguyen Bradley. There’s recipes, and mechanics, and an adorable comic of Nethys meeting Cayden… He even graces the cover!

Dustin Knight and Alex Augunas have a few items each. I’m a kitsune fan though I can’t compare to their love of such. They both contributed to the Kitsune of Golarion. I always love lore and this book gives us a treatise on kitstune across Golarion, some variant ancestry abilities as well as further options for heritages and ancestry feats. I love the Lady of Foxes addition, a deity commonly worshiped in Tian Xia, as well as the magic items like the Noh Masks. If looking for archetypes there are two including the Noh Mask Master and the Nine-Tailed Scion, which I’m certain to use. Or have I already? Don’t tell my players.

My next purchase is going to be Witches+, which was recently mentioned on the Paizo Blog as a top performer for August. I’m a big fan of the witch class, all it can represent, and all it can do. I want more patrons, more class feats. Now granted I know I can’t bring these over to Ateran and Roll for Combat, but I’ll certainly use such in my games. I’m curious to check out the suggested errata as well. Balance is always difficult and there’s always some options that seem better than others. Thankfully the math of Pathfinder2E is well defined, but at times some options or themes just fit better although that can depend on the kind of game too. There’s an Oracles+ as well, and I do love more options.

Now a shout out to my fellow Order of the Amber Die members! The Abomination Arsenal began this summer and I can’t wait to see more of this all gunslinger cast! Karee of Critical Hit Cookies has joined in with a gunslinger of her own, joining Player Captain Matt Hardin, Erick Germer, and Sean Linville. Dedicated character builds, amazing photography, real-feel sets are owed to these folks respectively though I’m sure they all pitched in to help. Of course Adam Smith – a founding member – is the returning GM and continues to produce top notch maps. You may be like “wow Rob I need to hear more” and yes, agreed. We do need to hear more, cause I mean… Look at that tabletop!

Until then, I hope you’re as hyped as I am with the news and gaming happening, but if you’re not investing in Pathfinder Infinite then I highly suggest you do! Watch the official twitter for updates on new releases, though of course follow your favorite authors and developers to see what they’re working on! You can find periodic updates and featured sellers on the Paizo Blog as well. As we in the northern hemisphere get ready for the winter ahead, make sure to settle in with a few good books from Pathfinder Infinite and gather your fellow gamers to try out their new material!

Investing In:

I wasn’t quite sure what to name my article series when I first started but the idea of showcasing or discussing things that make me excited, that I find new and interesting, or maybe I’m otherwise passionate about seemed to fit with the idea of Investing In something like the Pathfinder 2E mechanic. To use some magic items you have to give that little bit of yourself, which helps make these things even better. I like the metaphor of the community growing and being strengthened in the same way!

I also want to hear what you’re Investing In! Leave me a comment below about what games, modules, systems, products, people, live streams, etc you enjoy! You can also hit me up on social media as silentinfinity. I want to hear what excites you and what you’re passionate about. There’s so much wonderful content, people, groups (I could go on) in this community of ours that the more we invest in and share, the better it becomes!
