Now You Know – Reviews of the Past

Every week, director of operations Ryan Costello shares his thoughts on the state of the network, recaps the Know Direction content of the past week, and previews the Know Direction content of the week to come.

The latest Renegade Con Virtual was this past weekend, so I’ve been juggling seminar appearances with my network responsibilities, writing deadlines, and one of my daughter’s birthday. Jason and I will go into detail on the reveals and news from the event (Renegade Con, mostly, but we might banter about the birthday party), but if you’re an Essence20 fan, here’s the official Renegade Con 2023 playlist. Or, if you’re just a fan of mine, here are the G.I. Joe Reveals and My Little Pony Reveals seminars I appeared on, already on demand.

Network Update

Continuing last week’s theme, I’m planning a new initiative for gamers trying Pathfinder 2e for the first time. We have a bank of reviews and breakdowns of every Pathfinder2e hardcover. I’ll be sharing links with snippets and summaries on social media.

The idea ties all the way back to why we started reviews in the first place: We want to help those new to a game with an overwhelming number of options. And now just character creation options. Three and a half years into 2e’s life, Paizo’s releasing their 12th RPG line hardcover this month, and their 14th Lost Omens line hardcover next month, that’s hundreds of dollars a new Pathfinder customer has to consider spending their gaming budget on.

Granted, the So You Wanna Try Out Pathfinder Bundle helps cut costs. It still takes time to decide to read through all of that material. If a few posts, Tweets, and Toots save our fellow gamers time, money, or stress, Know Direction is happy to help.

Speaking of Know Direction, here’s a recap of the Know Direction Network podcasts and articles that released last week:

Now you know,

Ryan Costello

Ryan Costello

What started as one gamer wanting to talk about his love of a game grew into a podcast network. Ryan founded what would become the Know Direction Podcast network with Jason "Jay" Dubsky, his friend and fellow 3.5 enthusiast. They and their game group moved on to Pathfinder, and the Know Direction podcast network was born. Now married and a father, Ryan continues to serve the network as the director of logistics and co-host of Upshift podcast, dedicated to the Essence20 RPG system he writes for and helped design. You can find out more about Ryan and the history of the network in this episode of Presenting:
