KD/Syrinscape Gnome Land Security Soundset Contest

Know Direction, the Pathfinder news, reviews, and interviews podcast and blog network, teams up with Syrinscape, the Pathfinder licensee of the ambient sound and a movie-like soundtrack app, to bring you the Gnome Land Security Soundset Contest.

The following conversation really happened, abridged over a three year period between Syrinscape Creative Director Benjamin Loomes and Know Drection podcast co-host Ryan Costello:

RYAN: I really like Syrinscape.

BEN: Thanks. Would you like a Know Direction soundset for Know Direction listeners?

RYAN: Would I! Can it be a bunch of gnomes defending their city?

BEN: Sure. What do you think of this Arianne Elliott piece I commissioned for the background?

RYAN: I need to write an adventure set in that artwork. We could make a contest out of it, have fans stat up the gnomes as pregenerated characters, and collect it all in a PDF Gnome Land Security.

BEN: My life is not complete until Gnome Land Security exists.

CONTEST RULES
Look for a new portion of Arianne Elliott’s artwork from the Know Direction Soundset for Syrinscape, featuring one of the gnomes defending their city, every other week on the Syrinscape and Know Direction Facebook pages, starting Friday, July 1st. Create a 7th level pre-generated character based on the posted artwork, and following the below rules:

Race: Must be gnome

Ability Scores: High Fantasy points buy (20 points)

Traits: Two, but no campaign traits.

Flavour: Please include at least 250 words on the background of the character, including a name.

Special: Entire build must use open content, and all sources must be sited. Original options are allowed, but full rules must be included with your entry, and the quality (including balance and clarity) of your original options will be considered by the judges as part of your entry.

Send your entries saved as [yourname]-[round#].doc to gnomes@syrinscape.com. All entries are judged by Syrinscape and Know Direction staff based on how well they adapt the artwork, viability of the build, and creativity.

PRIZE
In addition to the winning entries being collected into the Gnome Land Security Pathfinder Compatible PDF product, each winner receives Syrinscape SoundSets or SoundPacks of their choice up to a value to $20 USD.

ELIGIBILITY
Contest is open to all residents of the world other than past and present Syrinscape Pty Ltd employees and their families, past and present Know Direction Network staff members and their families, and winners of previous rounds of the Gnome Land Security Soundset Contest.

By entering this contest, you are permitting Syrinscape Pty Ltd and the Know Direction Network the right to use your name and likeness in promotional material. You also grant them the right to publish your entry should it be selected as the winner of its round.

Ryan Costello

What started as one gamer wanting to talk about his love of a game grew into a podcast network. Ryan founded what would become the Know Direction Podcast network with Jason "Jay" Dubsky, his friend and fellow 3.5 enthusiast. They and their game group moved on to Pathfinder, and the Know Direction podcast network was born. Now married and a father, Ryan continues to serve the network as the director of logistics and co-host of Upshift podcast, dedicated to the Essence20 RPG system he writes for and helped design.
