I loved the toy talk. It brought me back to younger days.
When I was a kid back in the late 70s and 80s, I randomly assigned AD&D stats and classes to my vintage Star Wars figures (those from 1977 on). Each figure had an index card with the details on it including hit points, saves and spells.
My sister and I would dump the figures in a pile and we’d take turns picking out our favorites to fight them using AD&D combat rules. We’d use the index cards for each combatant since all of the details where on them (I still have the index cards!).
Me and my sister would usually play out these battles on Sundays after watching AWA wrestling. So, rolling a hit on your enemy meant that you did an elbow smash or pile driver or whatever-move we saw on AWA that day.
Nowadays, all of my Star Wars collectibles are stored in boxes. The entire 3.5 inch carded figure collection (from 1995 on) takes 97 of those printer paper boxes (17×11 inches). Unfortunately, I haven’t seen my collection in its entirety because of the space needed to unpack them all. It is the lack of space that has prevented me from completing the collection. Perhaps someday I can display them all together.
