Pathfinder Character Sheets – Round II

Eric Williamson’s Pathfinder Character Excelerator

My original plan was to build a 9th level witch using the Pathfinder Character Excelerator. As with all of the interactive character sheets, I will first attempt to fill it in digitally then print it out if I must.
As it happens, the Pathfinder Character Excelerator has a lot of pre-calculated classes built into it, including some of the APG Beta classes. The witch was not one of them. I had the option to input the class myself, so I gave that a try. Assign class skills, and BAB rate was quick and easy, but assigning class features and spells, etc required a lot of manual input. I appreciate that the option is there, but it’s more work than I’m willing to do for a character sheet.
Naturally I am not going to dismiss the Pathfinder Character Excelerator because it couldn’t build the character I wanted. I am going to try to build a class I know it supports, a 9th level oracle. It ends up, that did not solve the problem. The oracle’s spells still needed to be added manually, as did its equipment. There are spaces to add any miscellaneous modifiers, but the fact that they must be added makes me ask: what is the point?
It hurts me to say this, because clearly a lot of effort went into the design of the Pathfinder Character Excelerator, but it is obsolete. There are free character generators that handle calculations and the selection of options better for anyone that wants to generate characters digitally. Printed it is a very standard character sheet, so managing data is no easier than a basic character sheet.
