Every week, Now You Know recaps the Know Direction content of the past week, previews the Know Direction content of the week to come, and shares the thoughts on the state of the network from the director of operations, Ryan Costello.
Guest co-hosting the latest episode of Know Direction, it sank in how little I’m podcasting at the moment. At the height of my podcasting, when 3.5 Private Sanctuary released weekly and Know Direction monthly, I hosted on average 1.25 podcasts a week. Geek Together was weekly too, and Know Direction every two weeks, so that’s 1.5 podcasts a week.
Currently, I’m effectively hosting 0 podcasts. Which is so weird to me.
Upshift is on hiatus. I had one good episode without Perram, and one episode that was going so poorly that I didn’t even finish it. I apologized to the live audience and went back to the drawing board. I want to get back to it, but Perram heavily influenced the format, and so it’s a podcast without a solid identity. I’m looking for a new format and co-host.
Until then, I’m technically not hosting a podcast. Which is as weird as it is unintentional. It’s nice that I have more time to work on my freelancing, sure. But 15 years of podcasting morphed my brain. When I have a thought, I typically massage it into podcast content and then file it under “to be discussed on a podcast”. If I don’t get myself a new venue for those files, that folder’s going to overflow.
Speaking of network content, here’s a recap of the Know Direction Network content from last week:
Recap of June 13th to 17th
What happened last week on knowdirectionpodcast.com and twitch.tv/knowdirection?
Monday, June 13th
Dustin sat in for Vanessa as producer and cohost, and I was somewhere between guest and guest co-host to discuss Lost Omens – Knights of Lastwall, both the parts I wrote and the parts I just read.
Last week I said I didn’t have time to listen to the latest Intrepid Heroes before writing the preview, but I couldn’t wait to find out more about the Spungeon. It did not disappoint!
Now You Know – Shout Out To RPG Freelancers
By Ryan Costello
After word spread of TTRPG celebrities mistreating freelancers, I thought it was another good opportunity to remind fans how much of the content we enjoy we owe to freelancers.
Tuesday, June 14th
Maybe it’s because of Crystal Frasier’s original graphic novel of the same name, but I thought Chris Rio’s Cheer Up would be a game about cheerleaders. Instead, it’s a creative wordplay party game with a positive vibe.
Eldritch Excursion – Unraveling Mysteries
By Nate Wright
If your players are jealous that the GM gets all of the icky content, Nate Wright’s here with the Flesh mystery for 2e oracles, and the Curse of Unraveling for oracles who push their magical connection too far and fall apart.
Wednesday, June 15th
I was a bit worried this might overlap with last month’s Knights of Lastwall preview, but between the different hosts and my insight into the areas I worked on, this felt like a very different episode. And I had a lot of fun with it.
Thursday, June 16th
I love a good breaking into the industry story, and I love Jason Keeley’s more than most. That, and I love Jason Keeley! So this was a fun Digital Divination with a Presenting-feeling that shows the chemistry we can look forward to between John and Jason.
Preview of June 20th to June 24th
This is back to Block 2 of our 2-block schedule.

Now You Know – Missing The Host Chair
By Ryan Costello
Nothing like guest hosting a fun episode of Know Direction to remind me how much I love podcast hosting.
Tuesday, June 21st
Scott D Young ran the Adventurous crew through an original adventure, following up on the modified version of Pathfinder Society Scenario #2-17: Lost Maid of Anactoria that he previously ran us through. Although we have three episodes recorded, I warn you that I probably won’t have time to edit this episode to release tomorrow.
By Dustin Knight
