Now You Know: All The Returns

The returns keep coming!

Last time we talked about the return of Guidance.

Now we’re talking about another return so big, there are a half-dozen little returns attached to it.

First of all, Know Direction, the flagship podcast, is back. In its new format, it releases as three stand alone videos followed by a compilation released as a video and podcast the fourth Wednesday of the month.

Moving down to two subcategories of returns, first of all, this marks a revitalization of the Know Direction YouTube channel. Normally the channel archived our live streams. Although it now acts as, like, a pre-archive for the segments that eventually make up the month’s eventual episode. Anyway, the channel’s getting kind of new, but more importantly regular content again.

The second subcategory of the return of the Know Direction podcast is the new host: Me! That’s right, after almost 5 years, I’m back in the big chair. In short, the nostalgia bug bit me with its Pathfinder mandible. And while I liked the 2e rule set when it came out, I didn’t love it. But I did love what Luis and Eleanor did with the setting in the Lost Omens line, and enough time has passed that the rules feel like a whole new system to me. I’m also in an in-person Pathfinder game for the first time in forever and having a great time.

Which brings me to our Patreon!

Since the after shows ended, the Patreon’s activity has either been dormant or the gradual updating of the 3.5 Private Sanctuary podcast archive. And as much fun as I (and Majuba and Chanin) enjoy revisiting those episodes, the appeal is definitely niche. Well that’s changing. Now that I’m solo casting, expect more behind the scenes videos like my unused first attempt at the return video. I haven’t worked out a release schedule or any plans really for more Patreon content. I just try not to neglect our Patrons.

And of course I don’t want to neglect the rest of our audience either. Here’s what came out from the Know Direction Network last week:

Game Design Unboxed 123: Art Society

I love when a moment in a podcast makes me “hey, yeah!” In this case, that moment was when Mitch pointed out that owning the art you buy is usually nothing more than a victory point mechanism in art collecting games. Art Society making you Tetris your art onto your wall feels like it should have been implemented a long time ago, and I mean that as a compliment.
