Every week, Recall Knowledge recaps the Know Direction content of the past week, a preview of the Know Direction content of the week to come, and the director of operations, Ryan Costello, thoughts on the state of the network.
Jessica Redekop, prolific Paizo freelancer and Valiant’s Xiadani, joined the Know Direction Network staff. You might also know Jessica is familiar from her appearance on Know Direction 238, and when she dropped by for Geek Together, as well as her appearances on PaizoCon panels.
Given her history with the network, you might wonder why we’re only now announcing that she’s KD staff. That’s why this didn’t get a bigger press release when she came on board last week. It’s a business card promotion. Up until now, Jessica has been a know Direction Network cast member. Cast are members of the Network on one of our shows -usually an actual play- who aren’t involved in Network decision making. Cathy’s the best example of this, having co-hosted multiple shows on the Network for probably 10 years now, but never having been staff.
As KD Staff, Jessica has access to the Network’s back channels and is more likely to guest appear on Know Direction content.
Speaking of network content, here’s a recap of what you might have missed last week from the Know Direction Network:

Something Creates – Armor! pt. 2
Written by Andrew Sturtevant
Something Creates switched days with Fox’s Cunning last week so Dustin could kick off his Bestiary 3 Summon-Dex as soon as the embargo lifted.
I wish I could fully appreciate the latest instalment of Something Creates, but Andrew got into the weeds on Starfinder armor design, an aspect I’m unfamiliar with of a system I barely know. But that just shows that not all Know Direction content is made for me.

Presenting – Jeff Grubb
This was my favourite network content from the last week. Jeff Grubb influenced the RPG hobby so much, playing a key role in the industry since early on and to this day. It’s a great reminder how young this hobby is, and how lucky we are to have access to the people who made it happen, many of which are still actively participating in it.

Guidance — Starfinder House Rules: The Overwhelming Operative
By Alexander Augunas
Alex’s unofficial “I Love Starfinder, But…” series continues with him trying to solve The “Operative” Problem. I know I just mentioned how little I know about Starfinder, but these articles have given me important insight into how the game works. Like, I know what an operative is, but this gives me a better idea of what it’s like to have an operative at the table.

Valiant Episode 14: In Which They Hold Hands and Jump Again
Dramatic irony is when the audience knows more than the character. Like when a listener sees there’s another 40 minutes to a podcast and hasn’t heard anything about the show ending, but the characters face a decision that, if they’re wrong, will kill them all. Sometimes it creates tension. Other times, like this one, it makes the character’s tension hilarious.

Know Direction: Beyond 57 – Backmatter Mania
I feel like Starfinder recently hit a stride that was missing in its sophomore years. The pace and quality of content released now meets the expectations of its player base. Adventure Path backmatter is the cherry on top, just a bit more strong content that adds to the overall experience.
