Every week, Now You Know recaps the Know Direction content of the past week, previews the Know Direction content of the week to come, as the director of operations, Ryan Costello, shares his thoughts on the state of the network.
Last weekend was PaizoCon Online 2023. As usual, it featured hundreds of organized play games, online AMAs with a wide swath of staff, and dozen of panels. I’ve been asked if Know Direction will be hosting podcast versions of the panels, like we’ve done in the past. Unfortunately, I have some bad news. We haven’t received explicit permission from Paizo to host their audio this year. Without it, I’m afraid we won’t be able to offer our usual PaizoCon coverage.
PaizoCon Online 2023 videos are available on demand on Paizo’s official Twitch and YouTube channels. They cover the latest news about the Pathfinder and Starfinder RPGs and their license partners. Many feature Know Direction staff like Luis Loza, Vanessa Hoskins, Dustin Knight, and Jason Keeley.

Game Design Unboxed 64: Stonewall Uprising
There was a point in this episode where Stonewall Uprising designer Taylor Shuss lost me: When he explained that it’s not a co-op but a two player competitive game in which a Pride player plays against a The Man player. “Why would I ever want to play as The Man?” I wondered. “Or play with someone who wants to play as The Man?”
Turns out, that was Danielle’s next question, and Taylor answered it deftly. Playing as The Man is supposed to make you uncomfortable, and open your eyes. My main motivation for wanting to try Stonewall Uprising was to learn, so his answer was perfect. If learning history doesn’t make you uncomfortable, you’re probably not really learning history.
