Every week, Now You Know recaps the Know Direction content of the past week, previews the Know Direction content of the week to come, and shares the thoughts on the state of the network from the director of operations, Ryan Costello.
In the filing room of my mind palace, I have two drawers dedicated to Now You Know editorial topics:
- Timely network news to promote;
- Topics to cover when there’s nothing timely to promote.
A few weeks ago, the Know Direction Network’s own Dustin Knight revealed the fantastic news that his weekly Pathfinder Infinite review stream – Infiknight Infinite Reviews- would be mirrored on the Official Paizo Twitch Channel. As an incredible boom for Dustin, I wanted to give him a shout out in this space, congratulating him for the achievement and thanking him for his hard work. It should have been filed under Now You Know editorial topics type 1, but instead got filed under Now You Know editorial topics type 2.
Well today’s Dustin’s birthday. My birthday present to Dustin is apologizing for putting this shout out off for so long, righting that wrong, and throwing in a happy birthday while I’m at it.
Everybody, wish Dustin a happy birthday today if you can, and check out Infiknight Infinite Reviews, as well as his weekly Booster Bestiary streams on Facebook (in which he opens a Magic: The Gathering booster packs and adapts one of the cards into a Pathfinder 2e monster), and, of course, all of his content on the Know Direction Network.
Speaking of content on the Know Direction Network, here’s a recap of everything that came out in the last week:
Recap of February 14th to 18th
What happened last week on knowdirectionpodcast.com and twitch.tv/knowdirection?
Monday, February 14th
In Valiant 27, Xiadani randomly guessed which button to push to avoid setting off traps. The last two episodes focused on the consequences of pushing additional buttons anyway. Because Player Characters.
Now You Know – A Positive Household
By Ryan Costello
2022’s been a whirlwind of events at my house. Most have been manageable on their own, but it’s been a lot all together. Luckily, after 5 days of isolation, no one else tested positive and my youngest never developed strong symptoms.

Fox’s Cunning – Tracking the Talismans: Part 2
By Dustin Knight
Dustin’s been killing it with his series on Pathfinder 2e’s minor magic items, moving on to his second in a series of looks at Talismans.
Wednesday, February 16th
Even though it’s still not know what book it will appear in, Alex and Vanessa discuss the changes to Starfinder’s latest class, the Evolutionist, with Starfinder Senior Developer John Compton.
This episode would definitely have been in my shout outs if I still hosted the Know Direction podcast. Connor was an amazing guest, highlighting the challenges of breaking into the game industry as a minority (in his case, as a Cherokee), and how he rode the unexpected success of his original RPG, Coyote & Crow, to support others who weren’t so fortunate. It’s an insightful and personal interview, well worth checking out.
More Lore – Two Wrongs Can Make It Right
By Scott Young
Scott turns contradictions in published material into opportunities in the campaigns he runs. And this doesn’t read as an apologist justifying what was likely an oversight, but as a helpful tip to expand that oversight into deeper lore.
Thursday, February 17th
Luis and Loren venture into the Saga Lands.
Investing In: Absalom
By Rob Pontious
Rob shares his thoughts on Absalom: City of Lost Omens, including how it’s adding elements to his Agents of Edgewatch campaign.
Friday, February 18th
I was so torn about whether this was Downshift 000 or 001. I went with 000 so its numbering matches Upshift. Also, Know Direction: Beyond recorded an aftershow!
The evolutionist is my kind of class. Instead of waiting for situations to come up that remind me of abilities I have (which I usually remember right after when they were useful), it’s abilities adapt to the situation its in. No more pesky remembering!
And that’s it for this week’s Know Direction: Beyond content. OR IS IT?
That’s right, an extra episode of Know Direction: Beyond! Paizo reached out to us and asked if we wanted to preview Starfinder Society Season 5, including announcing one of three new factions, with Paizo’s Development Manger Linda Zayas-Palmer and Starfinder Society Developer Jessica Catalan.
Preview of February 21st to February 25th
Block 1 of our 2-block schedule.
Monday, February 21st
With the Complete Character Chronicles in backers hands, Beadle & Grimm’s join Perram and Vanessa to talk about how the Kickstarter went, the Complete Character Chronicles coming to PDF, and the upcoming Gold Edition of Absalom: City of Lost Omens.
Since Jason took over as the Intrepid Heroes GM, it’s been nonstop action. Unfortunately, that makes it hard for me to summarize the episodes, but I assure you they’re fun, fast listens, and you can feel the group’s progress through The Crucible and towards the conclusion of Dawn of Flame.
Now You Know – Happy Birthday Dustin
By Ryan Costello
If I’m being honest, I worry that dedicating a post to Dustin’s birthday may set expectations that I give ever Know Direction staff member a shout out on their birthday. I’m not against it, except that statistically, there’s about a Know Direction staff birthday every other week. Practically, it doesn’t work out that way since three of us are born the same week in July, of course.
Tuesday, February 22nd
As the proud owner of the Complete Rogue Chronicle, I’m looking forward to seeing what else Beadle & Grimm’s puts out.
By Nate Wright
Nate Wright’s journal of flavour and mechanics.
Wednesday, February 23rd
With the latest Renegade Con a little over a week away, Ryan and Perram discuss the panel schedule and what they’re looking forward to.
Danielle speaks with Move38’s Founder & CEO Jon Bobrow about the Blinks System. His system was created as a mash-up between a toy, video game and board game using electronic hexicon tiles that each hold a single game.
Behind The Screens – Great Responsibility
By Ryan Costello
Continuing my series on the basics of GMing, with the privileges of GM power out of the way, it’s time to cover GM responsibilities. For real this time.
Thursday, February 24th
John and Ron talk Starfinder for 50 episodes.
Friday, February 25th
I’ve spent way too much time wondering if calling the last Upshift “episode 000” was a mistake.
By Luis Loza
Luis makes monsters.
