Now You Know – Reaching For The Stars

If a game won Gen Con every year, Starfinder would be in contention for 2025.

Obviously the Starfinder 2e Player Core released. Paizo also released 1st level deluxe adventure Murder In Metal City, Era of the Eclipse by Tim Pratt, the first Starfinder fiction novel (available in print and audio), and the Infinity Deck, the Starfinder playing cards with the in-world best guess at the rules that were lost to the Gap. It’s great to see that new and old Starfinder fans can interact with the setting in multiple different ways.

The biggest Starfinder news might have been a partnership deal. ‪‪Epictellers Entertainment‬ announced Starfinder: Afterlight, a party-based RPG video game. This is separate from the recently announced Starfinder collaboration with video game Warframe.

Maybe coolest of all, Starfinder took over the Omni Bar, turning it into Drifter’s End, a futurist eats and drinks venue. Menu items include Meteor Shower, Cosmic Cosmo, and Strawberry Machine Cake.

Now, I’ve acknowledged that the majority of the Know Direction Network’s content organically drifted toward covering Starfinder. That may have been unintentional, but it worked to the advantage of Starfinder fans this weekend. Jenny Jarzabski joined Jason, John, and Ron for the latest Digital Divination and Dustin Knight joined Alex and James for the live Know Direction Beyond, all on Starfinder 2e’s launch date.

If that wasn’t enough, Dustin also joined Owen KC Stephens and Stan! for the GEN CON 2025 Edition of their annual Convo on the Couch, and the Starfinder team released their own hype video on Paizo’s YouTube channel, the Gen Con 2025 Starfinder Launch Panel.

Speaking of content, here’s what came out from the Know Direction Network last week:

Upshift 047: Story Points

Story Points are more than just the tools you forgot you owned!

Now you know,
Ryan Costello

Ryan Costello

What started as one gamer wanting to talk about his love of a game grew into a podcast network. Ryan founded what would become the Know Direction Podcast network with Jason "Jay" Dubsky, his friend and fellow 3.5 enthusiast. They and their game group moved on to Pathfinder, and the Know Direction podcast network was born. Now married and a father, Ryan continues to serve the network as the director of logistics and co-host of Upshift podcast, dedicated to the Essence20 RPG system he writes for and helped design. You can find out more about Ryan and the history of the network in this episode of Presenting: http://knowdirectionpodcast.com/2021/01/presenting-ryan-costello/
