So Blood-Rager is the first class in Pathfinder I decided to ever multi-class with. Mine is a Half-Orc 3rd level Divine Hunter Paladin / 2nd level Steel Blood Celestial Bloodline Rager. Taking the Alternate Racial Feature of Sacred Scars, the Fortunes Favored trait, the Scion of War Feat , 19 Cha(21 w. headband / Str 14(16*while raging) , and 7 Wisdom/10 Dex. At 5th level my initiative is +5 , fortitude Save is +15(16*) , Reflex is +8 and will is +9(11*) and an AC of 23(21*). Combined with the 7 Swift Action Lay On Hands and a Crit Heavy weapon with Smite to make up for the fact I use a one Handed weapon and a Shield make it a super durable class. When I get enough Fame in PFS to get a Holy Weapon I’m definitely going that route since the Celestial Power Stacks with Holy for 3d6 bonus damage against evil outsiders and 2d6 against any evil.
Is there a reason you aren’t going toward vulpine pounce if you want blood rager pouncyness?
I’m honestly not a huge fan of Vulpine Pounce, especially not for this build. You have to do a lot of wacky shapechanging for it to work, and shapechanging is a polymorph effect that would override my demonic bulk bloodline power (enlarged while raging). It would be a trick that I could use on the first “charge” of combat, but that’s basically it.
doesn’t demonic bulk shift you from human to kitsune if you start human?
Basically, it would end up being like this:
0) Start human.
1) Charge.
2) Activate Swift Kitsune Shapechanger as a swift action, changing into kitsune form to pounce.
3) Begin Bloodrage. Go from Medium to Large via demonic bulk.
It’s certainly doable, my only worry is that I wouldn’t be able to use my Hurtful feat (both Swift Kitsune Shapechanger and Hurtful are standard actions), and once I enlarge, I wouldn’t be able to pounce again without turning off my enlarge person effect. (Basically, to go from kitsune to human would require a polymorph effect that includes a size adjustment, and that size adjustment would override my demonic bulk feat’s size adjustment, so I’d go back to being Medium. Worse, demonic bulk only activates when you start my rage, so I’d also need a way to overcome the fatigue so I could start/stop my rage at will. Is it doable? Sure. Is it ideal? I don’t think so, personally. I’ll have to do more research to see what something like this would cost me.)
Nagaji are great blood ragers! +2 to str and cha, +1 natural AC, +2 to save vs mind effecting effects and an optional once a day hypnotism effect based on cha
Yes they are! I was trying to get Anthony to go that route because his Emerald Spire character, Danjo, is a nagaji paladin / eldritch scion (or will be when we reach the third level of the Super Dungeon).
Nice show, as always. I know the Spell Eater archetype doesn’t look that interesting as a whole, but I think it is a nice one if you are just going to dip into bloodrager long enough to pick up a 4th level bloodrage ability (which I’m doing for my lore warden). In that case, you are just giving up uncanny dodge to get fast healing 1, which is a nice way to quickly fix bleed effects.
