Ryan Costello

What started as one gamer wanting to talk about his love of a game grew into a podcast network. Ryan founded what would become the Know Direction Podcast network with Jason "Jay" Dubsky, his friend and fellow 3.5 enthusiast. They and their game group moved on to Pathfinder, and the Know Direction podcast network was born. Now married and a father, Ryan continues to serve the network as the director of logistics and co-host of Upshift podcast, dedicated to the Essence20 RPG system he writes for and helped design. You can find out more about Ryan and the history of the network in this episode of Presenting: http://knowdirectionpodcast.com/2021/01/presenting-ryan-costello/

With all due respect, why would I need to know where to get lunch or how to get the most out of my Paizocon experience, if I’m not at Paizocon and it’s already over anyway? Why would I want to listen to this?

    • Ryan

You don’t need to. We release the banquet first, because it’s pretty clearly the most popular thing we record. Last year and this year we then released the seminar we predict people want to hear the most -the Starfinder reveal last year and the Kingmaker CRPG this year- then we release in order. It’s both easier for us to get things out this way and it means that people who want certain content can get it and the people who don’t want it don’t need to.

On a personal note, despite the “all due respect” I didn’t appreciate this comment. We don’t need people to thank us, but what was your end goal?

      • David

I’m sorry that I offended, as I’m a long-time fan, and check in on Know Direction every day to see everything you release. I greatly appreciate all the work that you and the team put in on this network.

My end goal was see if there was something here that I was missing.

    1. The KD crew offer as close to total coverage as they possibly can. They don’t pick and choose what they want us to hear, they offer it all and let us choose what to listen to and what to skip.

    2. Information on how to get the most out of your PaizoCon experience will be (mostly) applicable to future PaizoCons, as well as (slightly less) applicable to other cons. As far as where to get lunch, there’s a reasonable chance that the basic information will also be applicable to future PazioCons, and if it isn’t, it’s still a good place to start when making future choices.

    3. Some of us want to hear as much about PaizoCon as possible, even if it isn’t immediately useful to us. The KD crew were clearly enjoying themselves, and their enjoyment and enthusiasm makes for enjoyable listening.

    4. PaizoCon 2018 will be my first PaizoCon, and you can be sure that I’ll make a point of reviewing *all* of their 2017 broadcasts in early 2018, just so I’ll have the best possible idea of what to expect when I go.

If you don’t want to listen to this one, fine. But some of us do, and are glad that it’s here.

Also, thanks Ryan and KD crew, for everything that you do!
