Geek Together 000 – El Goro

Meet El Goro, the host of Talk Without Rhythm, the only podcast that will not attract the worm. As per episode 0 usual, we chat about what brought El Goro to the geek dance, and, if I may say, Goro’s path to geekdom was rougher than others who have sat in the second geek chair. And while the slings and arrows he faced are mentioned, they aren’t dwelled on. Instead, we talk about the destination of that journey, where El Goro has found his passions and shares them with the world.

Here’s what you need to know about El Goro:

Goro and I subscribe to the same brand of positivity: you don’t have to drown your opinion in platitudes, but why rip something apart when you can create something awesome? Likewise, when it comes to people, instead of judging them for how they are different, celebrate how they are different. See the good in everything.

That’s one of the things I appreciate about Talk Without Rhythm. While El Goro is particularly passionate about horror movies, he reviews a wide variety of films on his podcast, appraoching each with the same eye for their own merrits, the impact they had, and, if they weren’t super popular, why that might be. There’s no better example of the ecclectic mix of movies that El Goro has an opinion on than the latest (as of this recording) episode, Talk Without Rhythm 211, in which he reviews the zombie horror Day of the Dead, the animated kid’s fare The Care Bears Movie, and the Mexican luchador film Blue Demon Contra El Poder Satánico, each of which gets the positively geeky El Goro treatment.

Before Perram joined Know Direction as the show’s first full time co-host, the podcast could have best been describe as a bunch of Pathfinder RPG stuff. Perram brings a knowledge of and love for Golarion to Know Direction, something any Pathfinder podcast is lacking without. On top of being a man on the pulse of the Pathfinder campaign setting, Perram is the founder of the superlative site for Pathfinder spellcasters, Perram’s Spellbook, a free web application that creates customized spell cards.
